Best physical condition is required to trek in high altitude. Without some pre-trek preparation physically and mentally, it could be tough. But don’t worry about it. We would like to suggest you to start jogging, hiking in the hill, climbing stairs rather than using elevators to prepare for the trek. Include Pranayama, Yoga, strength training, swimming, biking in your daily base training
Basic fitness and strength required for Trekking
- One should be able to hike for 5-7 hours a day.
- One should be able to carry 4-5 kg in a backpack for preparation.
- We suggest you walk/run about 5-7km for the preparation with some load on your back for 1 month to make your trekking much easier. Or use a treadmill for everyday run/walk. Once a week, increase the mileage by 1km.
- If you have an uphill location/mountain then once a week you should go hiking with a loaded backpack on your back. If you do not have mountain and elevation then use stairs to go up/down than elevator/escalator.
- Regular Yoga, Pranayama, swimming, biking, is also a good way to maintain your physical fitness.
- Participants should not have any established medical conditions that requires continuous or immediate medical intervention.
